EU citizens also need to have the Sanitary E111 Form in order to get medical assistance, should the necessity arise.

NON-EUROPEAN CITIZENS IN MILAN
Citizens from non-European countries need a valid passport. If you are in Italy as a tourist, remember that your tourist permit cannot be changed into any other kind of permit or extended for more than a year.
Should a visitor wish to prolong their stay, they need to obtain a visa and then a "Permit to stay" (Permesso di soggiorno) from the Questura. This is necessary when the duration of stay exceeds three months. Within eight days of entry you have to request a "Permit to stay" for the same reason stated in the entry visa.

DRIVING IN MILAN
While driving on Italian roads, you must have with you proof of your car insurance, log-book and driving licence.
